About The Page
While in PT school and early in my career, I began to notice most content on the internet about issues in the PT profession fell into one of two categories. 1.) Completely depressing, all doom and gloom, full of regret for entering the field in the first place, and even worse – PTs coming for each other in the comments section. Or 2.) Rose-colored glasses, ignoring the issues, offering “solutions”, or insinuating some PTs don’t really care about their patients because they’d like respect, fair wages, and reasonable caseloads.
My hope is this blog will be a place that finds the balance . . . Where we can talk about the issues without making you want to quit your job – maybe even offer some solutions in the process. Where we can talk about the good and highlight all the magnificent things we do as PTs. And finally, where we can have honest conversations about what we can do better to further us along.
I hope this becomes a community of support, motivation, ideas, and productive dialogue. It sounds cheesy and I’m obviously biased, but I truly believe this is one of the most valuable professions in healthcare. My goal is to make this blog a space deserving of all of you – the individuals that make up this unique, powerful, underrated, and amazing profession. Welcome to The PT Page! About Paige
I always knew I wanted to contribute to our profession in some way, but just wasn’t sure how. Well, in Spring of 2020 I finally got a chance to think about it. I was in my final year of PT school and had just begun my last clinical rotation. I got a week in before it was cancelled due to the pandemic. For the first time in several years I had nothing but time. I wasn’t taking boards till late July. I had no clinical, no coursework, and overall unsure what my job prospects would be in the Fall.
With my new found time, mental space, and being constantly inundated with news on the pandemic and healthcare system, I started to think deeply about our profession. Eventually, the idea of The PT Page was born! Over the next few years I began my career, got married, refined my vision for this blog, and if I’m being honest . . . worked up the courage to actually do it, but I’m happy I finally did! It means so much to me that you’re here. I hope you enjoy this space as much as I do. Connect with me through Instagram @the_pt_page or direct message using the the contact page!
